WHAT WAS THE PROBLEM THAT NEEDED SOLVING?
When mobile phones began to gain popularity, their antennas were often placed externally, making them vulnerable and space-consuming. Moreover, many early mobile phones had trouble maintaining stable connections, especially in areas with weak signals. The antennas could easily be covered by hands, further deteriorating the signal, and users experienced issues with the stability of calls.

WHAT WAS THE SOLUTION?
Gert Frølund Pedersen's team developed a groundbreaking solution by moving the antennas from the exterior to the interior of the phone. In the 1990s, they created the first integrated antenna, which became an industry standard and is a central component in nearly all modern mobile phones. A critical part of the solution was the introduction of the dual-antenna system, which improved both data capacity and connection by utilizing multiple signal paths simultaneously. This significantly enhanced the phones' ability to deliver stable networks and made them much more resistant to hand positioning during use.
